Alan is managing partner at Greenstein Rogoff Olsen & Co., LLP, a leading CPA firm in the San Francisco Bay Area. With more than 25 years of experience in public accounting, he works with some of the most successful venture capitalists in the world, developing innovative financial strategies for individuals and businesses. His firm was recently recognized by INSIDE Public Accounting as one of the Best Managed CPA firms in the USA. His firm also garnered both local and national awards for being one of the “Best Places to Work”, and “Fastest Growing Companies” in the Bay Area. Alan earned a B.S. in Accounting from Brigham Young University and an MBA (Taxation) from California State University at Hayward. Recently, he was honored by more than 7,000 Bay Area alumni recognizing his continuous public service advancement and career accomplishments. He currently serves on President Kim B. Clark’s (Former Dean of the Harvard Business School) Advancement Council at Brigham Young University-Idaho. Alan chaired the Friends of Scouting Campaign raising over $1 million and in 2010 he received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America for distinguished service to youth. He also received the Chairman’s Award from the Fremont Chamber of Commerce. He continues active in several educational, health care and community foundations.

Morey Greenstein is the founding partner at Greenstein, Rogoff, Olsen & Co., LLP. The firm began in 1964 as a sole proprietorship and was among the first accounting practices in the new city of Fremont, California. In 1980, Morey opened a second office in Palo Alto to service his growing client base in the West Bay. Venture capitalists, real estate developers, merchants and professional practitioners were among the early clientele, many of whom remain clients to this day. Morey is actively involved in the accounting practice, specializing in wealth preservation strategies for individual clients and closely held businesses. Those clients that deal with Morey respect him for his technical expertise and practical approach to complex situations.


Steve Singer, CPA

Steven Singer joined Greenstein, Rogoff, Olsen & Co. in 2003 and has more than 26 years experience in venture and corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, high net worth individual, corporate and partnership taxation and strategic planning. Prior to joining the firm, Steve was V.P. of Finance for Callixa, an enterprise-based data integration software provider where he was responsible for all corporate finance and accounting issues. He has acted as interim CFO for numerous high technology firms and advisor for a variety of manufacturing, wholesale and distribution companies for whom he raised over $25MM in seed and venture capital. As Partner at Stadtler, Rosenblum & Saris, Steve concentrated on debt and equity planning, successfully negotiating improved rates and increased amounts on bank and institutional financings. Steve holds a B.S. degree in Business from U.C. Berkeley and a Masters degree in taxation from Golden Gate University.


Hal Friedman, JD

Hal Friedman was a Director with Greenstein, Rogoff, Olsen & Co., LLP for 16 years prior to becoming a Partner in 2007. For the past 30 years, Hal has been working as a tax professional and lawyer serving the greater Palo Alto area. His practice experience spans all areas of taxation including closely held corporations and their shareholders, individuals, expatriates and nonresident aliens, and professional practices. Hal holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University and a Juris Doctorate from Stanford Law School.


Ron Cohen

Partner

Ron Cohen has more than 25 years experience in public accounting and related industry work. He earned an undergraduate accounting degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and then a Masters in Taxation from Golden Gate University. Ron has extensive knowledge in International Tax and has traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia handling tax issues. He has also served as a tax director for a company with sales in excess of $2 billion. Ron teaches a course in taxation at Ohlone Community College. Ron lives in Fremont with his wife, who teaches English at Mission San Jose High School, and has two sons. Prior to his life as a CPA, Ron did some stand-up comedy in Chicago and received personal advice and coaching from Bill Cosby and Tim Reed. However, after observing that the vast majority of comedians have a very low taxable income, Ron decided to follow his father's example and become a CPA.

Ron Boyer has a professional background of over 30 years in estate, fiduciary, business and individual taxation. As both a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), Ron provides tax and consulting services to individuals and businesses involved in mergers, acquisitions and estate planning. He serves as an expert witness in litigation pertaining to tax issues and lost income measurements. Ron has a BS degree in accounting and an MBA from the University of Utah. In addition, he has Masters degrees in Taxation and Financial Planning, both achieved from Golden Gate University. As an active member of his community, Ron is involved in many church and civic organizations as well as local business and professional groups. Ron also currently serves as the treasurer and a board member for the “Wellness Community” as well as on the Board of Directors for the “Contra Costa Senior Legal Services”. A Disneyana fan, Ron enjoys all types of Disney collectibles.


Scott Howard, CPA

Scott Howard is a Director with Greenstein, Rogoff, Olsen & Co., LLP. For the past 16 years, Scott has performed audit, review, and compilation services for a broad scope of clients including financial consulting, construction, and non-profit organizations. Scott also prepares income tax returns for individuals. Scott has been chosen as the firm's technical expert in charge of AICPA's Peer Review Program which has resulted in an unqualified opinion every year.


Jeff Faust

As Director of Business Valuations at Greenstein, Rogoff, Olsen & Co., Jeff has over nineteen years experience in the finance and accounting fields with over fourteen years experience in business valuations. Jeff received his BA in Economics from UCLA and has developed his financial expertise working for companies such as Fortis Investors Inc., Titan Value Equities Group, and Transamerica Financial Services. He spent three years as a Valuation Analyst at an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) consulting firm and two years as Founder and Vice-President of a stock option software company. Jeff was also Founder and President of FT Solutions, Inc. in San Leandro, CA. Jeff has personally performed hundreds of valuations for various purposes ranging from ESOPs, Stock Options, Family Limited Partnerships (FLPs), Buy-Sell Agreements, Estate/Gift Taxes, to Mergers/Acquisitions and Transactions. He has become an Associate Member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and was elected Secretary for the ASA's San Jose Chapter for 1999-2000. He has also become a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) and has received the designation of Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA).


Mary Kay Foss, CPA

Mary Kay Foss has over thirty years of practical experience in advising clients on retirement, income and estate planning issues. Ms. Foss is a frequent lecturer for community, professional and business groups, and has authored and presented courses for tax professionals throughout California. She is a past chair of both the Estate Planning Committee and the Committee on Taxation for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Ms. Foss is also the past president of the Estate Planning Council of Diablo Valley, the East Bay Chapter of the California CPA Society, and the Estate Planning Council of the East Bay. Ms. Foss teaches courses for the California CPA Education Foundation and has been quoted in local and national industry publications. She is also a member of Danville Rotary and Treasurer of the Hospice of the East Bay Foundation.


 Director Beth Rasler, CPA

Beth Rasler has been with Greenstein, Rogoff, Olsen & Co., LLP for 10 years. Beth received her CPA credentials in 1991 and has been a practicing accountant since 1987. Though a native Californian, Beth spent several years in New Zealand, living on a dairy farm and later working as an auditor for the New Zealand government. Beth is heavily involved in GROCO’s internal quality review process and has been instrumental in helping the firm achieve outstanding results in its Peer Reviews. Beth is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and serves on the Board of Directors of the Fremont Education Foundation.


Stephen Goveia, MBA, CPA, GPHR
Managing Director of M&A

Stephen is Managing Director of M&A for Greenstein, Rogoff, Olsen & Co. LLP. He has a long record of successfully establishing startups and restructuring complex businesses in the US, Europe and Asia. Stephen has served as a corporate officer and management consultant to numerous healthcare, tech and educational management companies. As CEO of Sybersay, he successfully raised several rounds of capital, developed and licensed a number of patents to the hearing healthcare industry. His strategic work with Sybersay led to the introduction of the first Bluetooth noise cancellation headsets into the mobile device market. Mr. Goveia was a Founding Partner of Madeira Ventures LLC, a management consulting firm, providing start-up consulting to emerging global businesses. Stephen was a Senior Vice President for Larry Ellison’s and Michael Milken’s private equity firm, Knowledge Universe. As one of the first operating executives, he oversaw human capital, real estate and the integration of mergers and acquisitions as the Company grew from a few to 14,000 employees, 50 companies, 2 IPOs and several secondary public offerings. Mr. Goveia was a Vice President of Sega of America during their dynamic growth from start-up to $1.4 billion in revenue and a 55% share of the world-wide video game market. Stephen was a key contributor to Coopers & Lybrand's Sand Hill Road Venture Management consulting practice, which provided organizational design, staffing and strategic consulting to venture backed companies. Mr. Goveia began his career with Levi Strauss & Co.’s corporate development staff transforming the Company from a centralized to de-centralized operation. He established an overseas finance company in Geneva as well as assisted in the growth of their European operations. Mr. Goveia earned his MBA at the University of South Carolina. He is a CPA and a GPHR, has served on several technology company boards, and is a former facilitator with the Alliance of CEOs. He is currently Board Advisor to the Silicon Valley Cancer Foundation, a founding Board member of the California Autism Foundation and served as Finance Committee Chairman of Berkeley’s Center for the Education of the Infant Deaf. Mr. Goveia is a frequent lecturer and speaker on entrepreneurship and the founder of the 86400 foundation.


Charles Roberts, CIPP/G

As Merger and Acquisitions Director for Greenstein Rogoff & Co. LLP, Chuck’s primary focus is to find exceptional CPA firms interested in merging their practice with GROCO’s. Most recently, a $1.2 million dollar firm in the San Francisco East Bay. He also works closely with the firm’s Managing Partner Alan L. Olsen, on the firms PR and marketing initiatives. GROCO was recently acknowledged as one of the top 25 best managed CPA firms in the nation by “Inside Public Accounting Magazine”, a top 50 fastest growing company by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Journal and a top 100 fastest growing company by the San Francisco Business Times. GROCO has also been recognized by two separate organizations as a “Best Place to Work”, locally by the San Francisco Business Times and nationally by “Accounting Today” magazine. A serial entrepreneur since he was 16 years old, Chuck has started multiple successful companies and has helped others to do the same. One start-up went from inception to being sold to a fortune five hundred company in approximately 18 months. Chuck founded, built and sold Prime Credit Reports Inc. in Fremont, CA. and Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. He was Sr. VP of new products for First American Financial/CREDCO; a fortune 500 company headquartered in San Diego, CA (NYSE: FAF), now First Advantage (NASDAQ: FADV). As the second full-time employee and principal, he helped build a food equipment manufacturing and marketing company in Pleasanton, CA. It too was successfully sold. He founded Repository IT Inc., a consumer and business privacy advocacy firm and was elected and served on the board of directors for the National Credit Reporting Association, NCRA.
